Sennacherib led an attack on Judah in 701 BC in which 46 Judean cities were destroyed. Although besieged, Jerusalem escaped destruction (2 KIngs 18-20; Isaiah 36-37; 2 Chronicles 32).
 
 
In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah's reign, King Sennacherib of Assyria came to attack the fortified towns of Judah and conquered them (Isaiah 36:1).
